I became interested in photography as a child. After getting married, I built a darkroom in my house. In 1999, my wife and I immigrated to New Zealand. I was unable to set up a darkroom so began dabbling with digital. I bought my first point and shoot digital camera in 2002 but became frustrated with the limitations and quality of the images produced with that camera and soon after acquired a Digital SLR. I used both film and digital media until converting fully to digital in 2003.
I have diplomas in digital photography from The Photography Institute in Australia and Southern Institute of Technology in Invercargill.
In 2005 I was awarded the Licentiateship of Royal Photographic Society (LRPS) . In 2014 I was awarded my Associateship of the Photographic Society of New Zealand (APSNZ).
In 2017 I was awarded the Arthur Bates trophy and a gold medal for the Champion Monochrome Projected Image in the PSNZ Natex exhibition.
In 2021 I won the Judges award in the North Shore Photographic Society National Salon and the winning image was published in the NZ Camera 2021.
I am available to do family groups, portfolios, portraits, performing arts, events and weddings. I am based in Unsworth Heights, Auckland. I also shoot on location when necessary. Please browse through my galleries. If you like my style them please get in touch.
